iWork on the iPad hasn't seen any huge updates either which makes me wonder if they've gone back to working on the Mac version for a bit.If you see squares instead of text on webpages, or text is blurry or fuzzy, follow the steps below to try fixing the issue. We're overdue to for an iWork update so it's hard to say at this point. This makes more sense than baking it into iWork directly. The other possibility is Apple decided to develop a generic auto-save feature, like the one found in Lion, that iWork will get eventually for 'free' along with other third party Lion-specific apps that use the new feature. As that possibility becomes less likely I don't think iWork has a very bright future. iWork has always been an insurance policy in case Microsoft decided to kill Mac Office. As to why Apple hasn't done this yet? Probably because iWork brings in very little money and is simply not a top priority and iWork itself is more of an 'MS Works' class of applications in the sense it's cheap and isn't really a direct competitor to MS Office for most people. The iWork apps in general tend to be pretty slow especially at opening/saving documents so this hints at some larger problems that need to be solved. I would guess the technical reason is the Pages file format is a lot more complex and frequent autosaves would cause noticeable performance blips while using the application.
